“Our first impression of Westmac was speaking directly to Evie. Instantly we knew she puts a lot of work into her dogs and puppies, asking all sorts of questions such as lifestyle and activities you have or are planning to do with the puppy so she could place the correct puppy forward. This instantly put me at ease knowing I was in safe and knowledgable hands.
Upon our first visit to Westmac, we were seriously impressed with the facility they have, from training to rehab. The process of meeting Heli then the puppies was an awesome morning and super fun for everyone involved. The purchasing process was also made super easy with Evie doing all the relevant paperwork prior to pick up day which made the process super clean and efficient.
Judging from other Westmac dogs around and so far with Kasper, our puppy, they breed the most confident, balanced and focused puppies I’ve ever seen.”

“I was asked by a client to source a German Shepherd puppy and after much searching I found Evie and Westmac. The client was not your run of the mill client, they had hugely demanding standards.
The puppy was being sourced to be a family pet, to live with them in their various residences, travel via private plane, helicopter and be stable enough to live on a yacht during the summer months. The puppy would also be required to be around multiple staff members that run the clients residences.
The client then instructed their people to conduct due diligence of Evie and Westmac and 4 days later we got the green light to proceed. I have sourced many dogs for many clients and for myself personally but what I found in Evie and Westmac has yet to be replicated.
It is not only the pre work they do prior to the breeding that sets them apart, such as ensuring all the health tests are in order, the selection of the suitable stud dogs but it is the little unseen things they do naturally.
The taking the puppies out and socialising them, taking them to their dog club, the introducing them to children etc that has really set them head and shoulders above the other breeders I looked at; they are a real hidden gem. From the client and I thank you so much for an amazing puppy and I am sure in the not to distant future I will be back for another one.”

“Evie.. Over the last 5 years in my role of puppy scheme supervisor for a Police service I have recruited in excess of 100 pups the majority have been GSDs from all over the country. Thankfully I saw the post about Pink collar and was amazed she was still available. You responded immediately to our enquiry and I travelled across the country to assess and collect her. On arrival I was astounded by the facilities you have on site, it is clear that you and your other half have devoted huge time and resources into building the most incredible centre I can honestly say that I have ever seen. Everything is spotless, no nasty smells, everything is in order, all the staff were friendly and welcoming. When I met Banshee I could see that she was everything we could want... confident, physically in really good shape, clean, lively. However the one area that set you so far above everyone else I have dealt with was you. You were friendly, knowledgeable, polite, professional and efficient and really gave me the sense of caring about your dogs.
Banshee is going from strength to strength... she is a bloody menace but wouldn't have her any other way..
Thank you for the privilege of working a Westmac dog and please please consider us again in the future..”

“With my general purpose dog approaching retirement westmac GSD was recommended to me as we had already purchased a bitch from a previous litter that had been of a very high standard.
Immediately on contacting Evie it proved to be a very professional, informative and enjoyable experience. There is clearly a lot of care and love goes into each litter and I was kept updated throughout the entire process of the developments of all the pups. This was especially useful for building a picture of which pups would be best suited to life as a police dog.
I attended down to the kennels personally and on first entering the drive was I impressed by a very professional set up which was maintained to a very high standard. I viewed the litter as individuals and as a whole and was able to take my time in finding the right dog for what we required. Evie was able to answer ever question and assisted throughout the entire process.
I ended up staying for several hours partly due to the difficulty in narrowing down a decision, as all pups were of an equally high standard, but, also some of this time was taken up by in-depth conversations with Evie about breeding training and working line gsds in general. Evie is extremely knowledgeable and has a clear passion and love for these animals and what they do.
On viewing the litter I was confident that any one of the pups would be suitable for what we needed, however, I selected one of the dogs from the litter and he has proven to be an excellent new recruit. An extremely confident dog with excellent drive and temperament. He has went from strength to strength. A big part of this I credit to Evie and the efforts she put in in the first weeks of the dogs life. These dogs truly are a credit to Evie and Westmac GSD as a whole. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a high quality working line GSD.”

“Evie reached out to our initial enquiry via the German Shepherds UK Facebook site to let us know Westmac had a new litter.
There was no pressure at all, however from her first message we felt fully immersed into a warm and welcoming family business and we felt this reflected how the breeding programme and care of the pups was managed.
We were able to look at pups from previous litters and how they were all developing. We were able to see videos of the day to
day lives of the pups, including the cleaning of the pens, and the socialisation activities that started with the pups from the first day.
This feeling meant we were able to ask questions about the litter and the gender of the pups and the pros and cons of each. We had not considered a bitch but we were reassured about management of seasons etc.
We were I think 5th on the list so were aware from the outset that others would choose first, however we also knew we would be likely getting an all black female which we were happy with.
We were very impressed with how Evie communicated with us directly and via the J litter f group.
Evie stressed that “most people don’t choose the actual puppy they’d like until they see the personalities as they grow up, often these small differences is the way people choose the puppy they feel is the best suit for their life (it also lets me see and evaluate the pups and see who’s more driven, less driven etc for working/active pet placements)”
This was important to us because we while we wanted an active family pet we hadn’t planned on IGP or agility etc, we simply wanted a healthy well bred family pet who could run along with family joggers and be happy on our many beaches.
Once we saw the litter on the private J litter group were were totally smitten. Each of the pups had their own personality and traits and the very regular (often daily) updates meant we got to know the pups before we met.
Due to the distance we were unable to take Evie up on the offer of a meet and greet before collection day, but we were very happy with the videos and updates she provided right through (literally from the mum’s scan, the birth and right through the weeks till collection.)
Collection day was a fabulous experience. It was a little tense waiting to see who the others further up the list picked but we were delighted to find ourselves paired with little miss pink collar - if a little apprehensive - as she was very independent and seemed quite wilful! Both traits that have developed further! (although at 7 months we are now seeing a more cuddly side which we love).
Since we collected Nyx at 8 weeks (along with an extensive puppy pack) we have had constant, easily accessible and unwavering support from Evie. Every question has been answered in depth and the advice and support we have been given from both the J litter group and from the Lovers of Westmac GSDs has been amazing. I’m sure Evie would say it’s all part of the service but it’s really going above and beyond and for that I am eternally grateful. The warmth and professionalism we felt from our first contact has proved to be the norm for this business and Nyx still loves listening to classic FM!”

“Westmac puppies...
I was put in touch with Evie when a mating I was waiting for didn't take...I have never been so 'grateful' it didn't, otherwise I wouldn't have found Westmac.
What can I say, from first contact, right up to present day, I have been thrilled with the service Westmac and Evie provide, nothing is too much trouble, their knowledge about the breed is outstanding.
I was constantly kept updated until I picked my puppy up...the facilities are outstanding.
Videos and pictures were sent on a regular basis. A puppy couldn't wish for a better start in life.
I would recommend Westmac and Evie to anyone thinking of purchasing a Shepherd puppy from them. Puppies are well balanced and have been inroduced to so much before they go to their new homes. I have been thrilled with my little lady and wouldn't go anywhere else now for a German Shepherd.
Way to go Westmac...”

“I cannot speak highly enough of Westmac and breeder Evie Meechan.
Having lost our beautiful GSD Hattie in January, I was undecided if I wanted to bring in another puppy as we still had our 6 year old GSD Yizzi.
On one of our training days, I saw a puppy, which I instantly liked.
I asked the owner where the puppy was from and was told Westmac.
I went on their Website and followed them on Facebook. I instantly liked what I saw, their set up for breeding was fantastic. I knew a litter was due beginning of March, I followed the progress right through to the litter being born. Evie moved into the whelping room to be with Mum and her puppies 24 hours for the next few weeks.
The puppies were coming up to a week old when I went on Westmac's website and saw that 2 females were still available.
I immediately spoke to my Husband who instantly replied "let's do it". I e-mailed Westmac with my history and knowledge of GSD's and that I was interested in one of the females still available. I received a lovely reply and a friendship with Evie began.
Evie set up the Westmac K litter FB page which myself and other potential owners were invited to join. It was a brilliant experience from the beginning with daily updates and photographs of the puppies.
The work that Evie started putting into the litter right from the start and until we took ownership of our Miss Purple was amazing. Evie worked with the puppies every day getting them used to being handled, different noises including Alexa playing fireworks. Evie set little individual tests to see how they react to different things. When the weather was good they were all in a pen getting used to different noises of machinery.
The puppies were introduce to Nannie dogs and Evie's GSD's to get them used to different size dogs. Also children were borrowed to come in and play with the puppies.
Evie is a wonderful hardworking breeder who truly gives her puppies the best start in life. We are so proud and delighted with our little confident Miss Purple, I would not hesitate to recommend Westmac to anyone looking for a well balanced working line GSD. Evie is a credit to the GSD breed.”

I have nothing but good things to say about my experience with Westmac GSDs.
From first point of contact when litter plans were announced, Evie was polite & happy to answer my many questions! I was a little worried about getting a working line puppy - we were more of an active home - but Evie suggested various “work” we could try if we fancied. This really put my mind at ease and gave me the confidence that we’d be able to physically & mentally fulfil our new addition.
Evie’s organisational skills are top tier - you’ll have contract details & relevant information emailed to you in good time. And alongside this, the many puppy updates as Evie raises & socialises the litter.
My next puppy will be a Westmac (if they will have me back!) because the whole process was smooth & enjoyable and I cannot fault the support you get way after your puppy has come home. My little Sadie is an absolute pleasure and we are currently having fun dipping our toes (and paws!) into the world of IGP!

‘’We had been searching for the right GSD pup for our family after the passing of our old dog and we were put in touch with Evie. We had a long chat on the phone before the I litter were born and reserved an unknown pup.
Once the pups were born we were sent regular videos and photos and it was so lovely to see progress and the character of each pup develop. It was also great to see the pups being exposed to life, all sorts of sounds, animals, textures etc.
Top marks to Evie for doing this as Storm is absolutely sensational in all respects.
We are an active household, three kids, cat and another older dog.
She blended in brilliantly and is absolutely bullet proof.
She has a very spicy side and is soft as can be with the kids etc. Her off switch is fantastic.
She’s quiet in the car, travels well, non reactive to fireworks etc and will do anything for ball and lure.
Couldn’t ask for a better guardian dog for our family and she’s working well towards being an ecology search dog.
Highly recommend Evie and will be going back for more!!’’

“I began researching breeders over a year ago as I wanted a dog who was bred to work but also who would be social and well balanced. I followed a few breeders who seemed to stand out and I was drawn to Westmac as they seemed to have a great balance between proven working ability and great all round temperaments, as well as being thoroughly health tested.
I made contact with Evie last year and followed the litters that she produced. I eventually decided on a particular litter and I was lucky enough to have the pick of the bitches. Evie has been amazing from the word go. We got regular updates, lots of videos, support and advice. The facilities Evie and Ricky have are outstanding. The work Evie puts into them is phenomenal. We got to see their personalities, how environmentally sound they were and the funny puppy moments too!
We picked our beautiful pup Taz (Westmac Joker Tasmanian) and Evie was genuinely upset when we were leaving with her. She really does put her heart and soul into the puppies. Evie has always helped and cared when we have asked for advice, and we know that will always be the case. We have our own Facebook group and it is lovely to see the progress that the rest of the litter are making. We have made new friends and we really are part of the Westmac family.
I would 100 percent recommend Westmac German Shepherds, as with Evie and Ricky, you will have the most amazing puppy and lifelong friends.”

'Our buying experience was a massive step up from the previous 'backyard' breeders of our other Shepherds. It was great being able to see the puppies right through from birth to taking ours home which we've never been able to do before. It was also reassuring to know how they were bred from healthy breeding stock with good temperaments. Your facilities are of such a high standard as is your care of both mum and puppies. We loved all the videos of the puppies all the way through until they were ready to leave for their new homes. However, one suggestion we would personally make was that we would have liked to be able to see which pup was which and maybe some individual videos of each one from about 5-6 weeks of age with a bit of commentary on their personalities as they were developing. It was quite difficult to make out the collar colours from the videos we got to see before they reached 7 weeks where they were all running about together, apart from obviously the individual videos done prior to everyone picking their pup. They were very helpful and above and beyond what we would have expected but just would have personally liked to see a few more individual ones earlier on.....that's all really. Not a criticism at all, just a bit of constructive feedback. Really love the fact that you care about every puppy you raise and that you are always there for the owners if they need help in the future. Keep doing what you're doing, it's fantastic. We'd have no hesitation in buying another one from you in the future, other than we already have four! Would thoroughly recommend you as a reputable breeder.'

“I came to Evie at Westmac GSDs from a position of knowledge. A friend had had two lovely Shepherds from her & I'd followed the whole process through her, watching from litter announcements, through whelping & the outstanding care the bitch & pups received.
I was impressed by the way the pups were started, with exposure to a variety of people, other dogs (Evie's own) and different environments.
Following the puppies' progress pretty much daily, from Day 1, through photos & videos on a special FB litter group makes the journey a very exciting one.
When I was ready to add another pup to my household, I didn't hesitate. I knew the litter would have been planned to ensure the pups stood the best possible chance of having a sweet & steady temperament, good drive for work & the athletic build to support it.
The business side of buying a pup from Westmac was easy & efficient, and Evie also provides a fantastic puppy pack & great follow-up support, if needed, once you get your puppy home.
Buying a pup from Evie was the very best decision i could have made. I was lucky enough to have first choice of bitch from the H litter and my little girl, Valka, has been everything I hoped for & greatly admired.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Westmac to anyone serious about sourcing a quality, working-line GSD.”

“Thank you so much for matching us to Miss Red aka Jessie. Your communication in the lead up to meeting Jessie and then after we took her home has been excellent. You are so responsive and informative with an outstanding knowledge and genuine passion for the GSD breed.
I was so impressed with the facilities, how clean they were, how well looked after mum was, the time you spent making sure I was 100% happy and had asked all my questions. As soon as you gave me access to a private Facebook group for the litter and I saw the videos you had shared I knew I would be buying a puppy from you. The care and attention you show the puppies and work you put in during the first few weeks has set Jessie up for her life with us perfectly. She is confident and has taken all new situations in her stride. She loves to play and it is reassuring to know you are at the end of the phone if I have any questions. Thank you so much! I came across Westmac due to my local dog trainer owning 2 of them.
I instantly fell in love with their body composition and colouring.
You see so many GSD’s with a sloped back and weak hips but they just looked so well put together.
I then went on to their website to look at their set up and check out their dogs,
Which is very informative and also refreshingly transparent.
I then spent a couple of weeks stalking their social media pages to see a bit more of how they operate and what they get up to.
I then took the plunge and contacted Evie to ask to be put on the waiting list for a pup.
After an initial vetting on the phone I was put onto the waiting list.
As is often the case in life, I was thrown a curve ball.
I was looking on the westmac facebook page and seen that Westmac joker demon’s original owner pulled out of the sale, I instantly fell in love with her and contacted Evie toot sweet to see if she would consider me as her potential new owner.
What followed thereafter was an in depth conversation on our suitability and also me asking all the health related questions you would ask. Hip and elbow scores, Blood testing etc.
I also raised my concerns regarding the possibility of further genetic issues raising their head (I had previously lost a pup to a possible genetic issue from another breeder) but Evie eased my concerns and even went as far as to contact her vet for a grounding on genetic testing for the issue I had previously experienced which was Above and Beyond what I expected.
Evie then asked for a video to see where the pup was potentially going to be living.
Which to me is perfectly understandable.
She really does see the pups as her babies.
After I had passed my suitability assessment and we were both happy, we organised a day to come down and pick her up.
I then travelled down to Wales from Scotland to be introduced to my new pup.
Once happy, I signed the necessary puppy contract stating that if for any reason I was unable to care for my puppy, she was required to go back to Evie.
All KC paperwork was then completed and we then headed off back up the road with our new bundle of joy.
Evie also provided a puppy pack with toys, food and a blanket with mothers scent.
Once back up the road, I was invited to a facebook group for the litter which has been fun.
Also been a good sounding board for bits and bobs that crop up.
So in a nut shell
Am I happy with my puppy? ABSOLUTELY
Would I recommend Westmac GSD? WITHOUT A DOUBT

“After our beloved GSD passed we were a little hesitant in diving into getting another puppy for a number of reasons.
Although we had a wonderful 8 years with our boy ‘Strike’ he had a number of health conditions which started from the moment we got him. We managed them for his entire life, trips to the vet on a weekly basis at one point, multiple medication that had to be given at different stages / times, weekly injections (by us) and towards the end seizures which temporarily rendered him immobile and needed trips to a specialist vet.
Although he had a challenging and relatively short life he was the most amazing dog and strengthened our love for the breed.
We had a poor experience with Strike’s breeder, even though we did our research for both breeder and parents, were prepared to travel the distance, we both didn’t get a good feeling about the setup when we saw it and probably should have walked away at that point.
The facilities were poor and rightly or wrongly we put Strike’s health issues down to his start in life, although thankful to have had him and looking back wouldn’t have changed things.
So needless to say we were extra cautious in looking for another potential GSD breeder, I searched the whole country and had a personal recommendation to narrow it to two breeders which I felt were the best of the best.
After speaking to Evie at Westmac we knew she was the one!
We stay in Aberdeen so everything had to be done at a distance but Evie was fantastic, setting up video calls, providing us with all the information we asked for and literally hundreds of photos and videos of the pups along the way. We expressed our concerns after the previous experience we had and our minds were put at ease instantly with her professionalism and passion for her dogs.
We set off for the 9 hour drive down to stay overnight locally the day before collection to allow us enough time to collect and drive back up the road the following day. Evie provided recommendations for local hotels and restaurants and was on hand for all the questions we had.
On the day of the collection we found the address and were very impressed by the facilities, a truly unique setup the best I have ever seen. The collection was seamless with all the preparation done beforehand, we had the opportunity to see the full litter and get a feel for the place.
We were looking for an active family pet to keep up with our busy household, not necessarily a working dog. These dogs are so versatile that with the correct training can be anything you want.
He has a huge drive and a big personality, loves his man trailing, outdoor adventures but equally chilling with me as my work from home colleague and playing with our young children.
Since then our pup has grown into a 'spirited', well natured dog and family pet.”

“My experience with Evie has been head and shoulders above what I’ve received in the past and I’ve had very positive experiences with breeders.
From the 1st point of contact through to the litter she had not being the one, to the next planned litter she kept me up to date, knew what I was looking for and was professional and friendly in each exchange.
The group she set up for the litter is such a fantastic place for updates, posting the 1st puppy born and each following.
This was the point I knew Evie was a step above as I’d not had this before. The group is now a great place for support and to see how the other puppies are doing and Evie always gets back to us despi how busy she is.
Bringing Cinna home you could see just how much work had gone into him and the level of exposure he’d had. He was bomb proof, confident, cuddly and keen to learn. He’s the most cuddly and level headed GSD I’ve had and yet has crazy levels of drive but will switch off in the house once you show him how! It’s been nice seeing and getting to know other owners which wouldn’t have happened without the group and I feel I’ve got to know Evie better and wouldn’t think twice about asking for help/advice.
One of the biggest things it’s given me is the confidence and support to finally dip my toe into IGP. A sport I was desperate to try 20 yrs ago and that’s down to my overall experience.
So I will be back for another pup in the future because I can’t recommend Evie & Westmac enough.”

“I lost my beautiful boy, Axle, suddenly last year. Although I wasn’t ready, I set the wheels in motion and looked at a few options, knowing that really good things often take time. When I’d settled on wanting another German Shepherd puppy, I searched reasonably locally for breeders and didn’t like what came up - they were all long haired, had unfavourable conformation (personal preference) and I didn’t get a good feel from the information they provided on their websites and social media pages.
I then specifically searched for working line breeders and Westmac were the first, and only, site I looked at. It was really informative and I loved their values. I sent a WhatsApp message to Evie to arrange a chat before filling in the form. Evie and I exchanged messages over the next few days and I shared photos of adventures with Axle (including lots of wild swimming in waterfalls, hence the preference for a short coat!) and explained this was the life I wanted to offer a puppy. We spoke later that week, for 45 minutes, about all manner of dog-related things and I completed the waiting list form the next day.
Evie kept me updated while I waited for a suitable puppy to become available and in April, the N litter arrived. I had first pick of the girls and knew I couldn’t go wrong with either. I was happy to be ‘matched’ by Evie to the most appropriate puppy and having met them at the puppy party. But then a video of Miss Multi pulling her sister along by the tail was posted in our litter group (fantastic for pupdates and questions from other owners) and my eyes lit up - she was cheeky and had the biggest character. I spoke to my trainer, slept on it and sent Evie a message the next day saying I wanted her. Evie gave me some advice about her spicy character and agreed it would be a good pairing.
It was amazing to meet the puppies, Freyja and Maverick, Evie and Ricky and other owners at the puppy party (one of which has become a friend who I’ve spoken to everyday since we identified each other lurkers on the waiting list waiting for news). This is a really great opportunity to help with preferences if you’re unsure and if you do have a choice to make, Evie’s input is invaluable - take her advice!
The time and dedication put into Westmac puppies is second to none. They come with a super strong foundation to build on and at 12 weeks old, Nixie didn’t bat an eyelid when I took her to my work summer staff day - a very large crowd of people, loud music and even a helicopter landing. I’ll see where we get to with our training but after seeing how she was with so many people, we might be able to achieve my idea as a Pets as Therapy dog. It’s incredibly early days and I’ll be guided by her as to what she gets the most out of. Above all, we’ll be the best of friends and have a lovely time.
I can’t recommend Westmac enough!
P.S. They come pre-programmed to tip water bowls, have a foot/ankle obsession and the steering and braking is faulty - not a surprise if you’re familiar with German engineering.”

“I was recommended Evie by a friend of mine as I was looking for a puppy to start my IGP journey with following the loss of my dog earlier in the year. I got in touch with Evie and she spent ages on the phone with me answering all my questions and really put me at ease. We followed the puppies progress which was amazing to see as Evie puts so much time and effort into raising them. We visited at 5 weeks and met mum and puppies and some of Evie's other dogs, the facilities were brilliant. Evie answered all the questions we had throughout the process and has continued to do so following us bringing the puppies home. Lycus has exceeded all my expectations and impresses wherever I take him. He is a superstar, so confident, clever and a total mummy's boy! I'm so excited to continue on this journey with him.”

After years of having gundog breeds, we were seeking our first German Shepherd puppy after years of research and came across Westmac.
I joined the waiting list after some back and forth emailing with Evie, and was kept up to date with several litters before the time was right for us to commit.
Once the puppies were born, Evie chatted us through the process step by step as it happened as well as always being on hand to answer questions.
The updates on our Facebook group were a wonderful touch to be able to follow all of the puppies as they grew, and the puppy party really was invaluable.
Evie and Ricky’s facilities are unmatched and to be given the time that we were to see the puppies and their parents (as well as some other notable members of the Westmac clan) was amazing. No question was too silly and we weren’t hurried out the door, just made to feel welcome and part of the Westmac family.
Mr Blue, (Westmac Nerthol Fenrir) has been an absolute dream come true for me. He turns heads wherever he goes, has slotted into our pack like he’s always been here, and has been a calm and confident dog from the offset who is a testament to Evie’s breeding and the Westmac mission.
Westmac are the epitome of how every breeder should operate and I wouldn’t hesitate to point anyone their way.
